Muscles acidify less fast with BCAAs in sports drink! PDF Print E-mail
Researchers have found a simple way for endurance athletes to make their sports drink more effective. By combining a regular carbohydrate-electrolyte drink with a modest amount of BCAAs they can raise their lactic acid threshold! Anaerobic Threshold (also known as lactic acid threshold or lactate threshold) is the level of physical performance at which the muscles produce more lactic acid than can be removed by the liver and muscle enzyme systems. Athletes AT improved with BCAA supplementation, and athletes with a higher AT can work at a higher level of energy expenditure for longer periods.
